Adding my two cents' worth for "unusual variations of paid time off":

two hours to vote on election days (although most people voted before or
after work, but it's the idea that's important in a democracy)

one or two "mental health days" at the employee's discretion --- when you
can no longer take what you've been taking and you need one NOW!
