This course includes theory and hands-on practicum which includes techniques
for braising metals, cutting/bending/gluing acrylics for the use of various

metals, common corrosion products, cleaning/stabilizing corroded objects,

This course focuses on behavior- and facility-oriented methods of conducting
integrated pest management, with heavy emphasis on low-chemical, practical

This course provides an in-depth study of the monitoring and control of the

This course focuses on the process of artifact cataloguing and maintenance
of collections records utilizing a computer database system.

Works of Art on Paper for Storage, Loan and Exhibition 

Hands on experience - this course focuses on museum matting for exhibitions
and loans. Learn matting and hinging techniques with emphasis on special
conservation and aesthetic needs of exhibition matting and framing.

This course will empower you to manage sewing projects that usually must be
outsourced.

Design for Collections Management 

This course will familiarize students with the design and creation of a
collections database. Using an inexpensive and easy to use software program,
students work with the instructor to create an actual working database that
can be used to organize and track collections objects.

Frames for Exhibits: Low Cost Repair and Reuse 

Participants will learn to cast pieces for repairs, fix small amounts of
damage with wax and other materials, apply design elements, do light
carving, and a variety of other techniques in repairing a frame or making a
period replica.

Heavy Metals in Collections 

Detection strategies, testing methodologies, safe handling guidelines, and
personal protective equipment (PPE) will be examined. Safe storage and
transport of contaminated objects will also be  discussed.
