We have the Association of Indiana Museums, which is fantastic for local
networking and educational programs. To contact them, email [log in to unmask]
or call (317) 882-5649. AIM has an email jobs listing.

The city of Indianapolis has a couple of professional networking groups
which meet monthly, the Arts Marketers and the Indiana Consortium of Arts
Administrators, which are both open to museum professionals who are not
employed by an art museum. The ICAA is primarily for executive directors,
but the Arts Marketers is fairly open to all staff levels and even includes
non-museum people (like the city/state tourism folks). I'm not exactly sure
who to contact, but I think it is convened by the marketing director at the
Arts Council of Indianapolis--the Arts Council can be reached at (317)
631-3301. I've always thought that there should be a curators group in
town, but nobody has the time to attend meetings much less organize it!

Finally, development people have their local chapter of the AFP (Association
of Fundraising Professionals, formerly called the NSFRE, National Society of
Fund Raising Executives) to network with. I am not in development so I am
totally clueless about how to contact them, but I assume there is a website
out there.

(thanks, Indigo, for all your hard work! I was on vacation when everybody
was chiming in, otherwise I would have joined the chorus then)

QUESTION 5:
Is there a museum-related organization/support group
specifically for people in your area (city,
county/state/province/borough, country) you believe
other museums professionals would benefit from and
should join?

If yes, where would they need to go to get additional
information and/or membership?
