The annual Southeastern Museums Conference Jekyll Island Management Institute (JIMI) will take place on beautiful Jekyll Island, GA, January 21-28, 2003.

What is JIMI?

An eight-day institute that provides a total immersion environment for museum professionals with subject area expertise who want to learn more about general museum administration and operations, and for administrators involved with new, small or developing museums. The institute will provide opportunities for participants to learn
management skills through lectures and participatory exercises. Topics to be
covered include administration and trusteeship, human resources,
fundraising, law and ethics, exhibits, marketing, working with consultants,
collections management, archival management, exhibits, security and
facilities, education and interpretation, financial management, and
volunteers. Participants will also learn about their management styles
through tests and activities. Participants will work on group project
assignments and give presentations.
