The Cantor Center also houses a permanent exhibit on the Stanford
family's collection. Leland Stanford Jr.'s collecting hobby was the
basis for the creation of the museum after his death and the founding of
the university. More at

The Cantor Art Center at Stanford University did an unusual and
wonderful exhibition about collecting called "Question" about four years
ago. The show was an experiment, posing questions about the Cantor's
collection that visitors often ask, and encouraging the public and the
staff to talk to each other about the works, about behind the scenes
