Subject: FW: Smithsonian Benefactor Cancels $38 Million Gift

What this article doesn't tell is that as a contingency of her gift Ms.
Reynolds wanted to be on the committee to pick the achievers who would be
honored in the exhibition and wanted the power to override any suggested
individuals of whom she did not approve. It's not so much the Smithsonian's
philosophy of groups over individuals that was standing in her way, it was
the fact that the curators disapproved of one donor (and specifically her,
given her connections) holding so much power over exhibition content.

J.
