In the interest of list peace and in keeping with my
true list attentions, I am asking that each of you who
might feel inclined to defend me and/or my actions
please not clutter the list with public affirmations.
I appreciate each of you who has responded to or about
me publically or privately, but it's never been my
intention to cause rancor on the list, and no, I am
neither going anywhere or changing the tenor of my
postings.

The list has a self-imposed limit of 90 messages a
day. I know this, because a little over a week ago,
the discussions were so many that we reached capacity.
That means, in a given week, there is a maximum of
630 messages that can be posted, and between 2,520 and
2,790 maximum in any given month. Look at the
archives for yourself. We're hearing from so many
more than we did in quite a while, and that is very
healthy.

In the four years I have been here, there have been
some of the discussions that were referenced, but,
just because they are now not happening has nothing do
with what I'm posting but a failure of those who might
prefer those threads to start them.

By nature, I am an advocate. There is a need, as has
been evidenced from time immemorial, for the young
people in our world and on our list to have guidance
and support. That doesn't stop with youth. Until we
have exhausted the requests for mentors, that thread
will not stop.

Unless someone can speak specifically to the problems
with something posted as being off topic, there isn't
the need to stop posting, but rather for those who
might take exception to volume or authorship to create
filters.

I do not intend to start my own list. I already am
list mater to an advocacy forum and have my hands full
with that. I am a part of this one and have spent
countless hours learning from and attempting to
contribute to the group. I have made some of the most
remarkable friends possible by so doing. I would love
to have the resources to visit each and every one of
your institutions, and yes, I, too, would like to go
to AAM in May but do not see that as possible at this
point.

I intend to do nothing differently unless and until it
is pointed out that the mark of the list has been
missed, and I will redirect my efforts at that point.

As far as what used to be, times and people change and
so, too, must we. On the immediate horizon, there's a
need in tight times for people to find out how to get
a foot in the door and/or how to prepare for that.
You might be cognizant of the fact that, just in the
last week, here in the US, it was reported people are
hunkering down during this recession by going back to
graduate school, so the future probably holds more
prospective employees with questions of how can I and
not less.

Roy Hemmat and I have spent many middle of the nights
emailing about ways to be of service to this
community. I am lobbying for a place where sample
documents could be uploaded, just as they are on
Charity Channel, and available as a reference for you,
and he's trying to get me to add some materials to a
forum he has conceptualized that could also be a
reference source for the group. I'm not getting paid
for this, and what miniscule revenue Roy generates
from sales through his http://www.museumstuff.com
reference site doesn't begin to compensate him for the
love of the museums world he demonstrates and the
neverending effort he puts forth to create a portal
for us all.

So, please, I ask you, take my name off the subject
line, and let's retire the flames. I am embarrassed,
hurt, and angry that this topic again resurfaced.
Less than a month ago, I was of the impression that
the list cast its vote in this regard.

Thank you!

P.S. For this and only this post, I have changed my
name in the address line. That matter was also
addressed less than a month ago at length.
