Hi,
Dear MUSEUM-LISTeners,

I am a friend of the new Republic of Makedonija. This is a marvellous
country in the Balkans which until now managed to solve its problems with
Albanians, with the very low economy in a beautiful and non-aggressive way.

This country is in danger to be drawn into the currently waged war. Imagine
that about 5 % of its population is the number of refugees in this country.
This would amount to more than 12 million refugees in the USA. This country
needs help.

You are talking in your conference about "Regional Disaster".

War: This is a very clear and possible danger for this country. What would
you advise this country to do - in the cultural field, where you are
experts?

We would like to set up a "Cultural Emergency Plan" to document all the
cultural sites (even if this seem horrible). There are more than 1.300
archaeological sites, there are more than 500 old monasteries and churches,
there are old houses and artefacts in the field, there are museums etc. This
country is very wonderfully rich in cultural heritage.

Could you think that there is any possibility to assist this project - with
money, with personal assistance, with professional help from your
universities, museums?
Do you know that not only climate or hurricanes or earthquakes destroy our
heritage? Do you know that the biggest destruction of human heritage was
always done by humans?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks for listening and reading,

Peter Rebernik
