We do our best to NOT collect newspaper clippings of any kinds. Not only are they prolific, but since the 1920s, they are made on highly acidic, cheap paper, and really can't be kept from self-destructing. We decline most such offers of donation on the grounds that we cannot adequately care for them; the same grounds we use to turn down offers of vehicles, buildings, etc. that would stretch our resources to the breaking point.
Our local library has a series of the local newspaper on microfilm; our in-house archives is working on acquiring a set as well. We do know there are gaps in that series; we keep our eyes peeled for editions of the paper that were missed in the original microfilming. Otherwise, we collect no newspapers.
