Good Morning all:

If you check the specifications for the HOBO dataloggers in the Onset
Computer catalog or website, you will find that the RH range for the H8
loggers is 25% to 95% at 77 deg. F. (25 deg. C.). The range for the HOBO
Pro-8 loggers is 0 - 100% RH. Although they are more expensive ($159) and
they are larger and a bit more visible than the H8 "minis", if low RH is a
concern, I recommend spending the additional $$$. The HOBO Pro-8s can be
downloaded using the HOBO H9 shuttle data transfer device. However, all H
series loggers and their shuttle require serial connections. When I
upgraded my laptop two years ago, I had to purchase a USB Serial adapter so
that I could connect the laptop to my shuttle and loggers.

Onset also sells the U-series loggers which are less expensive and have a
USB interface cable. However, their range is not as wide as the Pro-8s:
again 25 - 95% over the range of 41 - 131 deg. F. (5 - 55 deg. C.). They
also require HOBOware Software, not BoxCar. To be fair, I haven't used the
U-series loggers or the HOBOware, but I have been very pleased with the H
series loggers and BoxCar.

For data analysis, I export the Boxcar data to Microsoft Excel. I have
found it easier to normalize the data and run statistics in Excel as well as
print out clear and legible reports. I do keep copies of both Boxcar and
Excel data on disk in case I need to refer to the original download data.

I hope that this is helpful.

Subject: Low Humidity Dataloggers?

Hello all,
I have a related question regarding dataloggers. We are trying to find
ones that have a larger range for humidity readings. Here in Denver, we
can get down to 4%RH. The HOBOS I have looked at don't go down that far.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Isabel
