Once we created an interactive with furs and leather. We simply used small
hinged boxes. On the outside of the lid was a question (and in some cases a
picture of an uniform or a dress) and inside was the raw material that could
be felt. We used cotton, wool, rabbit fur, fox fur, feathers, dear, and
cow.

  Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Textiles exhibits

  Hi,

Do any of you have had any experiences with textiles exhibitions? what
sort of educational props/hands-on materials/interactive exhibits have you
developed? We are about to open an exhibition on prehispanic textiles and we
would like to know more about other people's experiencies, especially on the
educational ground.

I saw a wordeful exhibit at Albuquerque's Art Museum two or 3 years ago
about american indian textiles. As somebody said before we donīt need to
reinvent the wheel so any of you willing to share ideas please write back.

Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

  Thank you,

  Carla Ferrari
