CMCC'S CYBERBOUTIQUE: THE VIRTUAL SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
URL: http://www.cmcc.muse.digital.ca/cgi-bin/cmc.cgi

Hull, Quebec, January 5, 1996 -- Start the new year with a unique
shopping experience! The Cyberboutique, launched today on the Canadian Museum
of Civilization Corporation (CMCC) Web site offers visitors the chance to
browse through over 200 screens of Museum products.

The Cyberboutique is the first international store operated online by a
Canadian cultural institution. Through the CMCC's new virtual service,
customers can see beautiful full-colour images of more than 259 unique and
high-quality Museum products. Customers can view and select products; complete
an order form (which automatically calculates all taxes and shipping charges);
indicate the preferred method of payment, and confirm the purchase online 24
hours a day.

"This is an exciting addition to the CMCC's venture into the virtual museum
experience," says Dr. George F. MacDonald, President and CEO of the CMCC.
"Visitors from around the world can now order Museum products on-line. Items as
diverse as reproductions from our collections, internationally renowned
publications, and our most recently developed multimedia products are part of
this first phase of our Cyberboutique."

The products featured in the Cyberboutique have been selected from the Museum's
collections, and are presented in the following categories: Native Products,
Canadiana, Just for Kids, World Cultures, Museum Souvenirs and Military
Memorabilia. Products include Museum-quality reproductions, jewellery,
t-shirts, books, multimedia and posters. Purchases can currently be made from
around the world in English or French. Information will soon be available in
German and Japanese as well.

Museum Members receive a 10% discount on all their Cyberboutique purchases;
other visitors to the Web site will also be offered an opportunity to become
new members online, automatically allowing them to receive the member discount
as well.

All purchase requests are transmitted to the Museum via electronic mail;
however, customer credit card information is supplied only by telephone, fax or
mail. Speedy delivery of all Cyberboutique purchases is ensured.
