Many curators in art galleries and museums feel that the more text you add to
the labels attached to paintings, sculpture, etc., the more you detract from
the aesthetic experience of examining/enjoying the art.
Carolyn's suggestion would not only provide the visitor with a useful pre-visit
experience (and knowledge) but would also allow the person AT the
gallery/museum to obtain information in depth at the time of the visit, WITHOUT
having to attach great gobs of text to the art objects (or any other kind of
museum artifact, for that matter).
Makes sense to me, Carolyn!
