*Position Overview:*

The Shaker Heritage Society in Albany, NY seeks a part time Education
Coordinator to develop and present education programs for our diverse
audiences.

The mission of the Shaker Heritage Society is to strengthen our community
through educational programs and historic preservation focused on the
Shaker ideals of sustainability, equality, compassion, cooperation, and the
pursuit of a meaningful life. We are searching for a creative and ambitious
educator who will work with the SHS staff and volunteers to maintain our
current, successful programming while working to build new audiences
through thoughtful and meaningful new programs. The Education Coordinator
is co-editor the quarterly Watervliet Shaker Journal and develops
interpretive content for distribution via multiple platforms. S/he will
also assist the Executive Director and other staff to recruit and train
program volunteers.

development opportunities. This is a part time non-exempt position with a
starting pay rate of $15/hr and a regular work schedule of 28hrs/wk
including occasional nights and weekends.

*Required Experience and Skills:*

1-2 years of experience developing and implementing participatory education
programs and experiences for children and adults

Basic understanding of historic site interpretation methodology

Effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills and
knowledge
of history research methodology

Self-directed with an ability to multitask and proactively follow through
on projects

Computer literate with a good understanding of how to use social media
platforms

Demonstrated ability to work in teams and to collaborate with staff from
other organizations

Bachelor’s Degree in history, education, museum studies or related field
preferred
