Robbin,

The Dallas Museum of Art has an Internet gopher service that provides
museum information and digital images for public access. Currently I have
made 25 images of permanent collection objects available in GIF89a format.
Each image has a text extension block that includes the label information
on the piece and a small didactic statement that was written by either a
curator or museum educator. Since I started the project in late January,
I have received over 800 responses from users all over the world, and the
project has been noted in 3 "users guides" to the Internet, and is
featured in this month's issue of "Internet World."

All images are are at standard VGA resolution (640x480x256), and bear a
copyright notice on the image itself and in the text comments. I also
provide a small selection of shareware image viewing software for users to
download. We are currently seeking funds to expand the project and
provide 2-3000 images on the net.

We are working with the University of North Texas on the project; the
gopher address is "gopher.unt.edu." You can find the DMA under menu
option 5 - "Denton, Dallas & Fort Wroth Information."

regards,
