Re: Kodak Photo CD's

I've done a bit of work with these items, and there are two flavors
they come in. The one I am familiar with is the photo cd for photo cd
players. It is my understanding these cd's will not work with a pc
cd-rom drive, but only with Photo CD Players (which are being phased
out). Can anyone comment on these two ideas?
I had Lazerquick (a PNW Kinkos-type chain) transfer about 250 scans in
a EPS format (IIRC) from Zip disks to Photo CDs. With the 'bulk'
purchase this drove the cost down to a little under $2 an image. Some
limitations: the disks only hold 160 or so images (the technician
didnt realize this the first time around so we lost a number of
images) and this particular format wont capture high end sort of
imagery - typical memory size for a scan from a 5x7 print at 100
percent was 500-600kb, whereas items used for print advertising in
magazines will start at 40MB and up.
In any case, the 'low res' images for this sort of cd is certainly
suitable for future use in presentations over tv systems,
cd-play/projector hook ups and www use.
