As various changes are taking place at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens (a
historic house / museum / decorated rooms, etc), I am trying to make a
case to no longer use decorated rooms for special events. The event in
this case is a sit down dinner for new trustees; it requires that all
furnishings be removed; food is obviously being served. It is ironic
enough to try to raise funds for preservation through an event that
increases the need for preservation efforts. But it just ain't that
black and white.
Do any of you in historic houses have policies that deal with this, and
that you are willing to share with me?
As always, thank you!
