Director of Finance and Operations

 

 

Blaffer Gallery, the Art Museum of the University of Houston is seeking
a qualified individual for the position of Director of Finance and
Operations to provide oversight of museum administration, finance,
physical plant and security operations. The Director of Finance and
Operations reports directly to the museum Director and will work closely
with the Director and Advisory Board on strategic long-range planning.

 

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in education or
business and the appropriate graduate degree in museum studies or
administration, business, finance or law. An understanding of museum
ethics, human resources and experience in budgets, contracts and
insurance, facilities management and construction, security systems, and
retail operations is desired. A background in art or art history and
museum experience preferred.

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication
skills, and be fluent with appropriate computer technology and programs.
Applicant must be able to work with a variety of people including
donors, advisory board members, university regents and administrators,
and outside vendors and contractors.
