Hi all,
 
I have an old stained glass window (formerly a transom in a church) in a wood frame that I would like to suspend from the ceiling in a museum. The window is 6-8' long and 18" tall. The frame needs to be spruced up (lots of paint layers) and the window probably needs to be reglazed. The window seems to be structurally sound, however, I have not yet had it professionally evaluated. I have two questions:
 
1. If the window is sound, what is the best way to hang it? I was thinking by wires from the ceiling, but I don't know how or where to attach them. The builder I am working with suggested sandwiching the window between sheets of plexiglass bolted to the original frame, but I don't want to damage the original frame. I'm open to suggestion and my budget is limited.
 
2. Does anyone know if it is feasible to encase the entire window inside a plexiglass case and then hang the entire case from wires? I though this might protect the window and preserve it until I can afford to have it fully restored.
