The news stories about the Smithsonian for-profit subsidiary are 
interesting, but there is an issue of broader interest here about the 
proper and effective museum oversight.  Looking at the actual report of the 
internal auditor turns up some interesting management issues.

But a museum internal auditor needs a lower profile and a more focused 
mission to maintain effectiveness.
