Dear Sports Museum / Hall of Fame staff:
I am considering a membership in the International Association of Sports
Museum and Halls of Fame, however, since we're a young upstart institution,
money is a bit tight. Both the membership and conference dues are a bit too
expensive for my taste.
My questions: Is membership worth it? Is this an organization you feel proud
to a part of, or just so-so about. Is this organization worth squeezing
money out of the budget now, or should I wait until later when the budget
(God willing) will have more breathing room.
To provide further background, we are currently members of AASLH and I
received my Masters' last year; therefore I am more interested in networking
and "advanced" fundraising/interpretation/building a museum from the ground
up type learning than "How do I care for my collection?" learning.
I appreciate any and all comments.
Thanks in advance,
George Garner
