2012) 
 
Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation 
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan
organization that sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and
Museum, the Center for Public Affairs, Air Force One Pavilion, and the
Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center. Located in
Simi Valley, California, the Reagan Library houses over 55 million pages
of gubernatorial, presidential, and personal papers, and the Museum is
home to more than 40,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the life and
legacy of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. It now serves as the final resting
place of America's 40th President. 
 
The Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center 
The Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center (APLC), a
national resource for civics education and support, engages the future
leaders of America with the aim of developing proactive, informed,
educated, and conscientious citizens and leaders. The organization
develops innovative educational content, makes it available to educators
and students, and aligns the efforts of prominent local and national
civics-oriented organizations. Additionally, the APLC increases
awareness of the importance of civics education and encourages
individuals from all parts of our society to become active participants
in the democratic process. 
 
Job Description: 
The University Intern of the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential
Learning Center will have the opportunity to work with a small team in a
dynamic professional setting while earning college credit as determined
by the intern's university. The APLC is committed to providing an
authentic learning experience throughout the tenure of the summer
internship. This position will provide exposure to various fields: 
*         Education: The APLC's experienced education team designs
curricula, runs civics-themed programming for students, and offers
professional development opportunities for educators. 
*         Museum: The APLC is housed at the Ronald Reagan Presidential
Library, one of thirteen presidential libraries. These libraries are
both archives and museums, bringing together the documents and artifacts
of presidents and their administrations. 
*         Events: In addition to working with the APLC education team,
the intern may assist our events group with logistics for major events
and renowned speakers hosted at the Library. 
 
During the internship, the Annenberg Presidential Learning Center will
sponsor career lunches featuring various professionals throughout the
Reagan Foundation and Library. Potential career lunches may include:
Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Development Officer, Director of
Communications and Programs, National Archivists, Director of
Information Technology, Educators and more. 
 
Responsibilities: 
An intern must be a motivated and responsible team player able to
multitask in pursuit of the following objectives: 
*         Education and Programming: Contribute to the creation of
guides or manuals to help workflow of the APLC and/or the Reagan
Foundation. Implement social media projects to share the message of
civics education and awareness with a wide audience. Assist with
communication strategies such as an APLC newsletter. Create and maintain
accurate and active lists of civics educations programs, curricula, and
professional development opportunities for website. 
*         General Support: Participate in planning, promoting, and
staffing education events. Correspondence via email, social media, and
phone. Perform standard office duties including maintaining office
organization, printing, and spreadsheets. 
 
Qualifications: 
A successful candidate for this position should possess: 
*         Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and
prioritize with attention to detail. 
*         Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and web
navigation. 
*         Interest in one or more of the following areas: Education,
Civics, Service, History, Non-profits, or Museums. 
 
Requirements: 
Applicants must: 
*         Be 18 years of age or older and provide evidence of full-time
enrollment at a local university. 
*         Be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week for ten weeks
OR complete at least 100 hours of service. We highly encourage interns
to commit to longer than the minimum requirement. 
*         Submit and clear a background check as required by the Reagan
Foundation. 
*         Maintain a professional appearance and correspondence. 
*         Knowledge of the following is a plus: blogging, social media,
website design, wiki-space development, and social bookmarking. 
 
Reporting Relationships: 
This position will report to the Education Coordinator of the Annenberg
Presidential Learning Center and work closely with the entire
department.
