I'm responding to Lois Brynes about Smithsonian permissions ON the list
because my answer might be useful to others. The Smithsonian Institution
is very de-centralized and has no single, centralized permissions
office. It all depends on what museum, bureau, or office has curatorial
responsibility for the "visual" (is it an image OF a museum object?).
Contact me (off-list) with the specifics & I'll try to figure out whom
you should contact. David Haberstich, [log in to unmask]
