Major Duties

This is a supervisory position. Incumbents who are initially appointed to a supervisory position must serve a probationary period of one year.

Serves as Supervisory Museum Curator for Edison National Historic Site in West Orange, NJ. Responsible for preserving and making accessible the extensive museum collections at the Site. Coordinates collections management programs including inventory, documentation, storage, conservation, security and fire protection, research, exhibition and records management. Supervises a staff of 6-10 museum curators, archivists and technicians. The Site includes 21 historic structures, 400,000 artifacts and 5 million archival documents within Thomas Edison's Laboratory Complex and Victorian Home.
