There is a museum dedicated to the history of wallpaper in Kassel,
Germany.  The wallpaper on display (much of which is mounted)  appears to
be very well preserved (cloth, paper, leather, etc.).  There must be a
knowledgable wallpaper conservator available to the museum.  I wonder if
any of our German colleagues on museum-l, could help to find a phone/fax
number for the museum so you can inquire directly...?
