The Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City (www.toyandminiaturemuseum.org<http://www.toyandminiaturemuseum.org>) is pleased to announce the following internship positions:

Summer Internship

Education Department

Title:  Education Intern

Number of positions:  3

Compensation:  $1000 stipend; No housing provided.

Time Commitment:  132 Hours (11 weeks, 12 hrs per week minimum) May 29- August 12
            Tuesday & Wednesday, 12:30-4:30; 4 hours on Saturday or Sunday

Duties/Responsibilities/Projects:  Education interns will be responsible for facilitating programming and giving oral presentations for the summer Adventures in Learning series, which explores various aspects of the collection through tours and hands-on workshops.  Interns will lead pre-structured hands-on workshops and will be responsible for creating a new program.  Additionally, each intern will be responsible for delivering at least 2 oral presentations as well as highlights tours of the collection. Interns will assist the front-line staff with visitor orientation and participate in weekly readings and discussions.  Interns are required to attend a reception on June 30, 2012.

Supervision:  Laura Taylor, Educator and Amanda Clark, Assistant Museum Educator

Qualifications:  Seeking undergraduates interested in pursuing a career in museum education.  Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, public speaking experience, and demonstrated experience working with the public.  Must be a self-starter with high standards and exemplary problem solving skills.  History, art, and museum studies majors are encouraged to apply.  Special preference will be given to UMKC students who have completed English 309WI:  Rhetorics of Public Memory.
