Natchez, Mississippi
The National Park Service, Southeastern Library Network, and Historic Natchez Foundation are partnering to provide a free half-day of training in the salvage of water-damaged objects and paper materials. It will include both lectures and free handouts and will be focused on decision-making and resources. The information will be geared toward cultural institutions such as libraries and museums but will also provide valuable information to homeowners with personal treasures. Though the workshop is timed to assist with recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina, it will also help people to be prepared in advance for the next disaster.
The training will take place on Thursday September 15, 2005 in Natchez, Mississippi. The location is the Historic Natchez Foundation at 108 S. Commerce Street in downtown Natchez. The program will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 3:00 PM with an hour break for lunch.
Participants are encouraged to register via phone (601-442-1431) or email
([log in to unmask]) so the sponsors can get a rough headcount.
