Web Specialist & Content Developer

Interested in putting your skills in web management and online content creation to work at one of Canada's largest museums and archives?
As a member of the Royal BC Museum communications team, you will be responsible for coordinating and creating content for web-based communications including providing technical assistance, managing social media projects and researching new ways to communicate with online audiences.
With your strong technical skills, experience managing complex online projects and expertise at writing for the web and social media, you will thrive in this fast-paced work environment helping to maintain and enhance the Royal BC Museum website and social media properties. Contributing to the overall communications strategy, you will write content for web and electronic applications, manage a specialized content management system, improve the Royal BC Museum website, work with graphics to create visual designs for web pages and support staff with online communication issues. You will analyze trends and recommend new ways to communicate and engage with audiences online, work with museum staff on technology projects designed to improve the visitor experience including smart phone applications and monitor and evaluate existing online communication projects.
You possess a degree or diploma in a related field such as computer sciences, marketing, communications, web development or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You have a minimum three years' experience in developing and coordinating communications materials, website quality control and implementing web services, have a solid understanding of web programming languages, web and image software packages and have created and implemented web and social media communication plans. You have experience creating graphics for the web, shooting, editing and uploading video and have strong experience writing and editing web and social media content.
Preferably you have worked in the cultural field previously and can demonstrate that you will bring creative ideas for engaging museum and archives audiences of all ages.  We are accepting applications until midnight, April 3, 2011.
