Hello all,

Our historical society in York, NY, has an opportunity to purchase a c. 1840
house with three acres of arboretum, planted by the former owner. Our Town has
offered to give us monetary and physical assistance in the yearly
running/maintenance of the site. It would be the first real "home" for our historical
society, which has been renting a room from a local fraternal organization.
Naturally, we are excited by the possibility, but wonder how much financial support
other municipally supported historic homes receive?

I would like to hear from museums in communities of under 10, 000 population,
if possible.

Thank you,

Jane Oakes
York, NY
