NOTE: THE PERSON SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO AN 18-MONTH
PROBATIONARY PERIOD FOR SUPERVISORS.

DUTIES: The incumbent directs the Program in Latino History and Culture, 
developing and producing a variety of
lectures, exhibitions, family and children’s programs, concerts and other 
activities reflecting Latino history and culture.
Cultivates local and national Latino groups and communities to generate 
interest, develop external support, create
partnerships, build audiences and develop a national presence. Identifies and 
engages participants; collaborates with
curators and programming staff to research, present and make visible Latino 
topics in exhibitions and outreach.
Researches and writes program materials. Coordinates administrative 
requirements, supervises program staff, manages
and mentors interns and volunteers. Participates in and provides support for 
other museum initiatives on related topics in
diversity programming.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience 
equivalent to the next lower grade level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience which has equipped the 
applicant with the particular knowledge, skills
and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and which 
is typically in or related to the work of the
position as described above.
Selective Factors : (Applicants must meet all of these mandatory requirements 
in order to be considered qualified to

1. Knowledge of Latino history and culture in the context of American History.
2. Skill in producing public programming (such as lectures, exhibitions, 
roundtables, performances, broadcasts, and
World Wide Web programs).
3. Knowledge of a range of resources within the U.S. Latino community.
4. Ability to speak and read Spanish.

Quality Ranking Factors : (These factors are not mandatory to be considered 
for a position, but will be used to
determine who are the highest qualified candidates among those who meet the 
selective factors.)

2. Skill in communicating orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.
