Thought I'd chime in on this discussion. Here at NYU there is very
little support from the school or from other departments (ie: IFA,
Center for Digital Multimedia, Tisch School of the Arts) for the
Museum Studies Program. In fact, I constantly run into downright
hostility at the whole concept of museums and their, presumed,
elitism. There's not a great deal of support from the museum, either.
 
Seems an odd way to train professionals.
