Marilynn,

A few years ago I came across a darling children's book entitled "Need A
House? Call Ms. Mouse" with wonderful whimsical illustrations. It tells
how Ms. Mouse, a female architect, plans homes that meet the needs of
her clients. It would be great to help kids understand that aspect of
architecture. I hope you can find it. (It was so charming I made color
slides of the illustrations so kids could see the many details as I read
it to them.)

Also, published in the 1940's so possibly no longer to be found, was a
wonderful children's book on architecture. The illustrations were
beautiful line drawings with pastel wash perhaps. I was entranced with
it as a child, and I can still remember the Greek Revival illustration.
Sadly, I can't remember the title, but it was a thin book
in large format, about 12 x 16 as I recall. Maybe a museum of
architecture will have reprinted it for their book store (or have
another similar). (Sorry I can't be of more help on that one.)
