GRASS BASKET EXHIBIT GRANTED
The Alutiiq Museum has been awarded $5,114.00 from the Alaska Fund for
the Future to
support a traveling exhibit on grass basketry that will feature the work
of Arlene Skinner
as well as grass baskets from other Kodiak artists. The exhibit, “Grass
Baskets of
Kodiak Island”, will be on display starting in early July and then will
travel to village
communities. It will include photographs by Sven Haakanson, Jr. of
local weavers.
The Alaska Fund for the Future is a special project of the Philanthropic
Collaborative,
Inc., a public charity. The Alutiiq Museum is located 215 Mission
Road, Suite 101.
