Job Description

The Adirondack Museum (AM) in Blue Mountain Lake, founded in 1957, is one of the premier cultural institutions in upstate New York and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. AM's 65,000 square feet of exhibitions are dedicated to telling the story of one of America's most unique regions, its residents, and visitors. The year-round staff includes 30 full and part time employees with an additional 50 seasonal employees added during the open season May - October.  The operating budget is approximately $5M. Under the leadership of a new Executive Director, AM is embarking on an exciting period of growth and change. AM seeks a dynamic, creative individual to oversee its Interpretation Department. S/he will be responsible for developing compelling, interactive exhibitions, public programs, and other offerings that present the story of the Adirondacks. The incumbent will oversee implementation of a new exhibition master plan being prepared by Gallagher & Associates, Richard Lewis Media Group, and others. The incumbent will report to the Executive Director and be a member of senior management. The position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Job Requirements

Candidates must have 5-10 years experience working in exhibition development and/or public programming. A Master's degree is preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills as well as strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) required. The individual must be able to manage time efficiently, work on multiple, simultaneous projects and deadlines and have the ability to work under pressure.  Send cover letter and resume to:
