I think Indy had a good point about trying to schedule activities in the Spring
with all the sports, proms and graduations going on. We moved it back from
early June since it was so hot last year. Wouldn't you know that it was 90+ in
April this year. We can't win. :(

Oooh, I never thought of the 4-H. We need to get more involved with the scout
groups and doing merit badge programs tho'. Getting all the advertising out in
a timely manner is really difficult when you've only got a few people working.

Sounds good. This year's theme for Hands on History was "Gizmos and Gadgets",
which I thought would attract a lot of kids. We had a farrier demo, me doing a
sidesaddle riding demo, a historic woodworker who used our carriage tool
collection (he was GREAT!!), spinning, knitting, leather working with a
frontier buckskinning display (the guy does wonderful leather work), open fire
cooking with a nice spit and chickens hanging off of it, a What's it" table of
old gizmos the kids had to guess at, and I did a little thing on Victorian
calling cards.

So we had a bunch of "different" things than the traditional butter making,
corn husk doll things, etc. Part of the problem is that the house is not
air-conditioned so it's hard to do things inside.

I'm going to see if we can do a "An Evening At Home" type of program in the
Fall when it's cooler which would also be different. I'm thinking the evening
time would be a bit better on the weekends since there's a lot of stuff going
on during the days.

Who knows, we might just go for profit and turn into a full-time tea room.
*sigh*

Deb
