Kathie, in my experience the micron pens will smear a bit. I've purchased unstrung pre-cut tyvek tags from Gaylord. (http://www.gaylord.com/adblock.asp?abid=16335&search_by=desc&search_for=tyvek%20tag&mpc=WW&catalog=&target=) Packs of 100 sell in the $5.00 range. Zig millennium pens work well and the ink does not smear on the tyvek. http://www.markersupply.com/zigmima.html. We've then strung our tags as needed with glide dental floss. Tyvek tags can also be stitched onto textiles.
They are water resistant and pest resistant but we've found that they melt like a reverse shrinky dink during our controlled burns.

Hi Tyvek posters. Thanks for these great sources. I haven't used these tags before. This is perhaps a dumb question, but what do you use to write on these? I'm guessing it's a slick, coated surface. Will my Micron archival pens work?

Thanks!
