I recall when working at Confederation Centre Art Gallery,
our Director Moncrieff Williamson regaling us with a story
of his presentation to the Board a proposed purchase of an
Elsa Mayhew monumental bronze sculpture for the outdoor
plaza of the Centre. After aghast discussion of the price
one member asked: "How much is bronze a pound, anyway?"
