Collections Move Coordinator

General Description:  The Anthropology Division, Museum of Texas Tech
University, seeks a Move Coordinator.  The Move Coordinator reports
directly to the Collections Manager and assists in the care,
maintenance, and organization of the Anthropology collections during
the move into new facilities.  Directs and supervises day-to-day
collection activities during the span of the four year project.

Full-time, temporary position (4 years).  Includes a generous

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include
training students and volunteers; directing the organization,
packing, transport, and installation of collections; maintaining the
tracking inventory throughout the move; maintaining database system
including bar coding; assisting in monitoring and regulation of
collection environments; and related duties as required.  Candidate
must be able to organize collections data and people; prioritize
collection activities; and budget and plan for supplies and equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise graduate student move
assistants, work-study students, and volunteers.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Extensive knowledge of collection management and accreditation standards
Must have understanding and ability to learn data management software
(currently FileMaker Pro), including bar coding
Ability to train and supervise individuals
Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report activities in the
collection area
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others
Ability to do precise work

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience: Master's degree in museum
science/museum studies.  Requires a minimum of one year collections
management experience with museum collections, and preferably
experience in moving a museum collection.

Salary:   $25,000/yr
