The Visitor Studies Association (VSA) is sending out a call for
proposals for its annual conference this summer in Orlando, Florida.
Below is detailed information on submissions, but please note the
January 19, 2001 deadline for proposals. There is also submission
information available to conduct a half- or full-day workshop at the
conference. Please contact me directly if you would like that
information.

VISITOR STUDIES CONFERENCE 2001

July 31-August 4, 2001


CALL FOR CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS

Submission deadline is January 19, 2001

This is a call for proposals for Visitor Studies Conference
presentations—posters, individual papers, panels and round tables (see
separate flyer for workshops). These program sessions will be held from
August 2-4, 2001.

Visitor Studies Association (VSA) welcomes proposals on all aspects of
visitor studies
Topics can include methods and results of audience surveys; front-end
studies for marketing and exhibition planning; and formative, summative
and remedial evaluations of exhibits, exhibitions and education
programs.

Studies from related fields are also welcome, e.g., leisure studies,
interpretation, psychology, cognitive science, architecture,
environmental design and industrial design. Presentations that focus on
theoretical issues and the foundations of research approaches are
encouraged, as well as practical issues and famous failures.

VSA invites presenters from a variety of fields
Presenters may be museum staff, consultants, museum studies faculty and
students, or professionals from related fields, e.g., marketing,
educational research, educational technology. Presenters must register
for the Visitor Studies Conference.

If you would like to participate, please submit a brief, one-page
narrative description of your presentation, preferred format (poster,
panel, forum) and time requirements. Include in your description a
summary of objectives, procedures/methods, findings, or issues, and how
you are using this information. To facilitate the proposal review
process, the proposal summary should adequately convey its content using
between 250 and 500 words. Include the name(s) of the presenter(s), the
institution(s) involved, and contact information, including telephone
number(s) and e-mail address(es).
