Digital Imaging Technician
Full Time Permanent Position
Newseum, Washington, D.C.

Description:
The Visual Resources Department at the Newseum is seeking a Digital Imaging Technician to support the department's digital image production. The images will be part of several exhibitions opening in 2016 and beyond.

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Director of Visual Resources, the Imaging Digital Image Technician will:

*         Color correct, clean and retouch digital files of recent, digitally produced images as well as older photographs shot with film.

*         Upress images to specific target sizes as needed

*         Scan photographic prints and negatives as needed

*         Photograph artifacts, capturing images suitable for exhibition promotion

*         Assist with exhibition installation photography, as required

*         Assist the Director of Visual Resources in other digital file adjustment duties as directed

*         Be POC for operation and troubleshooting of VR's printing and scanning equipment

Requirements:

*         Advanced knowledge of digital image processing software such as Adobe Photoshop CC

*         Demonstrated experience in color correction, cleaning and retouching of photographs

*         Demonstrated experience in flatbed image scanning of both opaque and translucent media

*         Familiarity with Perfect Resize or similar upressing software

*         Experience in object photography and lighting

*         Knowledge of quality control techniques and best practices related to digitization processes

*         Familiarity with PhotoMechanic, Bridge, Excel or other image presentation/management programs.

*         Demonstrated ability to work accurately in detail-oriented, busy production environment

*         Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently
