Jenna,

This is much more complicated than you may realize. It depends upon the age of your building, its construction, the layout of the rooms, whether you can tie the dehumidifier in to a water supply, if you are open in the winter, the thermostat setting in the winter, and so forth. It may even be unadvisable to humidify for your building. This would be much more easily handled with a phone call to get through some of these questions quickly. Feel free to give me a call.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Humidifiers

I'm trying to determine what kind of humidifier to buy for our Museum, which is a stone structure and 1,435 sq. ft. partitioned into six rooms. The RH is consistently low (<40% on average), and it often drops below 20% during winter months. Can anyone recommend a type of humidifier and/or brand that is portable and affordable for a small museum to purchase?
