Hi Melisa,
The National Museum of Indonesia recently joined in the Google Art Project (http://www.googleartproject.com/collection/museum-nasional-indonesia/)
A few issues that occur at the time were the database input form, the format was for fine art work while the museum's collection is ancient art and anthropological collections, so we had a small issue on the field of "artist" but that turned ok.
And then there's the issue of video copyright that has not been resolved, so one video about Batik cloth making that is already on youtube is still "private" with limited access that can only be granted by sending the video link through email.

It was an extensive work that involved a few parties outside the museum such as translator, additional collection consultant and most importantly project administrator, somebody who kept notes and making sure the project is on its track and stick on the deadline.
Oh, you also should have a great photographer who understands or easily to understand which part of the collections that should be emphasized on. We employed this guy who has years of experience documenting artifacts and archaeological sites in Indonesia.

Binhouse cloth museum's team was actively involved in the process.

Best,
Annissa

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Google Art Project: Thoughts and opinions welcome

Hello Colleagues;

Here in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area several museums are interested in the Google Art Project. If anyone is currently involved in this project,
I would love to hear from you regarding its practicality. Overall negative/postitive comments, issues with Google, copyright issues, etc.
I'd appreciate any and all feedback.

Best,
Melisa Durkee
