These are too large for lace making. While large bobbins do exist they
are usually for large or wooly fibers, not for threads used for making
lace. Maybe these are attachments to a larger object? Good luck!

I wonder if it is a lace making bobbin.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Mystery Objects
While working on an inventory of our collections, we came across three
mystery objects. They were acquired by the museum in 1971 (or
thereabouts) as part of a very large collection from one of the area's
prominent pioneer families. Unfortunately, there is very little catalog
information for this collection and absolutely nothing on these objects
in particular. A few ideas have been batted around the office, but no
one has been able to come up with anything for certain.
A quick description: Light wood (possibly pine) coated with black enamel
paint. One of the three objects has two metal prongs protruding from its
base. The other two have a small brass brad hammered into their base.
They range in size from 3.5" to 4.75".

Any help or suggestions would be great!
