Although my title is Museum Educator/Gallery Interpreter, gallery security
is actually part of my job. Our positions are a cross between a docent and
a gallery attendant.

This basically describes our security staffing: yes, whenever non-staff
groups are in the building and the galleries are being used, one of our
staff is in the galleries. We are not separate security staff. We are
Education staff. We give tours to school groups and stand around and
prevent drunken wedding guests from damaging the armors. (Ironically, we
are paid more when we're guarding the stuff from drunken wedding guests
than when we're giving tours.) We have had volunteers and interns in the Ed
Dept who have also done gallery duty. Other departments do not usually get
tapped for this duty.

I have no idea.
