*Gift Shop Manager/ Buyer, The Heritage Center*
Home to* *one of the nation’s finest collections of contemporary Native
American fine and tribal arts, The Heritage Center seeks a Gift Shop
Manager/Buyer to oversee a vibrant and ever-changing gift shop that buys
and sells locally-produced arts and crafts. The person best suited for this
position is extremely detail-oriented, self motivated, meets deadlines, has
good communication skills and can successfully multitask. Computer ability
and knowledge of traditional and contemporary Lakota arts are required and
supervisory experience is a plus. Previous business, retail and/or
purchasing experience desired.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:

   - *Provide excellent **customer service** in a positive manner.*
   - Responsible for sales, purchasing, merchandising, shop appearance and
   maintenance, and general customer service.
   - Identify new national and international wholesale leads, set up a
   relationship and fill wholesale orders.
   - Assist Director in employment decisions for gift shop employees.
   - Train, schedule, and supervise Gift Shop Assistant and part-time
   employees.
   - Manage the point-of-sale software, with the ability to provide
   training and support for part-time employees in point-of-sale use.
   - Order new inventory and maintain outgoing inventory within budget
   constraints.
   - Conduct semi-annual and annual physical inventories.
   - Create fresh and enticing displays.
   - Fulfill telephone and Internet sales.
   - Answer emails regarding sales and general questions about gift shop.


All persons selected for employment must complete a federal background
check. A favorable result of this background check is required prior to
employment.  Native American preference applies.
