Matt, that was the National Museum of NATURAL History that botched the 
creationist film event, not American History.  I remember vividly the convoluted 
thinking that accompanied it and just made things worse.  It seemed to me that 
the Museum should have taken the stance that they were simply renting out the 
space for an event, and the rental should not have been construed to imply any 
Museum endorsement of the renting organization's views.
