Outreach Coordinator

 

The New York State Historical Association has an immediate opening in
the Statewide Programs office for an Outreach Coordinator.  The Outreach
Coordinator works primarily with New York State History Day, a statewide
history competition for students in grades 6-12.  The individual must be
enthusiastic and willing to travel across the state to recruit teachers
and schools to use the museum’s programs.  Responsibilities include
researching, cultivating and maintaining productive educational
collaborations with school districts, museums, and other educational
organizations in the region.  Successful candidate will create and
coordinate educational programming to support the state’s K-12
curriculum standards using museum resources.

  

Qualifications include a Masters Degree in History, Museum Studies,
Education or related discipline, or equivalent museum or education
experience; experience in conception and planning of museum programs for
student and teacher audiences; writing and editing skills; computer
literacy, i.e. basic word processing and data management skills;
interpersonal skills, and volunteer and staff management skills; ability
to plan multiple events and programs simultaneously; ability to work
with diverse audiences; creativity and attention to detail.  This
