Subject: RE: Negative Numbering - How do YOU do it?
Date: Tuesday, 6 May 1997 11:30AM

My system has been inherited from the Photography department.

It is numbered according to 1) object category 2)format 3) numerical
sequence eg:
a 35mm negative depicting a train would be numbered TL-SMN-112 (Transport
Land-small monochrome negative-the 112th negative sheet in the Transport
Land category).

The next two negative sheets received could be on a different format and
would be filed with sequential numbers eg:
TL-MMN-113 would be another picture of land transport shot on medium
monochrome negative and TL-SCN-114 would be a land transport picture shot on
35mm colour neg.

Individual frames are shown as the edge number added to the above number eg:
TL-SMN-113-1 or TL-SMN-1A would be the first frame of a roll filed in one
sheet of archival neg protectors.
