Ian,

Try contacting The St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art. It is part
of Glasgow Museums. I know they have Islamic material on exhibit but I
don't know how large their collection is.

Also, you might try contacting the Open Museum (again, part of Glasgow
Museums). When I was doing my internship there (summer 1996), Alex
Robertson was working on a joint project with Islamic women and hijab
(spelling?). I went to the first group interview--it was fascinating
stuff. I'm sure Alex has put together a lot of great information and a
traveling exhibit as well. If you talk to Alex, tell her I said "hello."
The Open Museum has also done a couple of other exhibits that might be of
interest to you.

I don't remember the phone numbers off the top of my head but being in
the UK you can get them easily enough. Hope this helps!
