Amy,

Several examples of mergers/takeovers come to mind beyond Cincinnati:

The Louisiana Nature and Science Center in New Orleans became part of Audubon
Institute.

The Computer Museum in Boston went out of business. Some collections and
exhibits went to the Museum of Science, Boston, and substantial collections
went to the Computer History Center in Mountain View, CA.

The New World Aquarium was absorbed by the Museum of Discovery and Science in
Fort Lauderdale, FL.
